Funke Akindele is starting a television programme on HIV/AIDS that focus on fighting discrimination and stigma of HIV/AIDS, the key to combatting the epidemic in Nigeria.
“Marginalisation, discrimination and stigma cause an individual to have to succumb to the dangers and difficulties of inequality within a society,” Joseph said in an interview with OBSERVER Media.
She talked about her friend who lived and died of AIDS. In her words she said, I have a friend who had HIV/AIDS and died of it. The person couldn't open up because of the fear of stigmatization. If the person had opened up in time, we might have been able to save her life.
